早稲田大学政治経済学部の自由英作文対策【2018年度入試】

「政府と大企業における女性管理職の最低雇用人数を法律で定めるべきか?」

A law should be passed in Japan establishing a minimum percentage of women in key positions in the government and major corporations.

2018年度の入試では、「日本の政府機関と大企業において、一定以上の女性をキーとなるポジション(管理職)に登用する法案を可決させるべきか」というテーマで問題が出された。英作文を作成する上で、賛成か反対かの意見を明確にする必要がある。自由英作文のコツは自身の意見ではなく、制限時間内に理由が思いつく方で賛成・反対の意見を選ぶこと。

【賛成①】
I support a law that would require a minimum percentage of women to be hired in key positions in our government and major corporations. There are two reasons why I support this. One reason is that as a woman, it is often judged that she will leave the company on the occasion of marriage and childbirth, and in order to solve the current situation it is necessary to set numerical targets. Another reason is that It is not an equal society that a highly capable woman cannot be a manager by being discriminated by gender. Therefore, I think that women should be given a fair opportunity. 女性という理由だけで、結婚・出産を機に会社を辞めるだろうと判断されてしまうことが多く、現状を解決するためには数値目標を立てる必要がある。能力が高い女性が性別により差別され、管理職に就くことができないというのは平等な社会とは言えない。

【反対①】
I do not support a law that would require a minimum percentage of women to be hired in key positions in our government and major corporations. There are two reasons why I support this. One reason is that many women think that they do not want to be in managerial positions because of working hours and heavy responsibility. Another reason is that when a company makes a young woman a managerial job, the person often leaves the company due to marriage or childbirth, which may result in waste of human resource development expenses. Therefore, I do not think that women should be given a fair opportunity. (104文字)

労働時間や責任の重さを理由に、女性労働者は管理職になりたくないと考えている人が多い。企業が若い女性を管理職にした場合、登用された人が結婚や出産などで退職してしまうことも多いので人材育成費の無駄になってしまうことがある。

【反対②】
I do not support a law that would require a minimum percentage of women to be hired in key positions in our government and major corporations. There are two reasons why I support this. One reason is that by recruiting low-performance women to achieve numerical goals, you may become a form-only manager. Another reason is that there are many women who struggle with parenting because managers cannot easily take long holidays. Therefore, I do not think that women should be given a fair opportunity. 数値目標を達成するために能力が見合わない女性を登用することで、形式だけの肩書になる可能性がある。重要なポジションに就いている人は、簡単に長期休暇が取れないため、子育てとの両立に苦労する女性が多い。
