テーマ：「才能は天性のものか、あるいは努力で手に入れるものか」
大問5：What do you think? Are we born with talent? Do we develop talent through practice? When it comes to talent, which is more important?
2017年度の弘前大学の前期入試（人文社会科学部・教育学部・医学部）では、「才能は生まれ持つものか、練習して得るものか。また、どちらの要因が強いか」というテーマが出題された。才能と努力のどちらが大切かを問う問題であるが、どちらを選んでも書きやすさに差はないと感じるので、個人の書きやすいと思う方を選択して良いと感じる。もちろん両者ともに主張の芯を通すことが大切。文章の構成は「1.才能の有無について」、「2.主張」、「3.（2）の理由」、「4.結論」というように展開を進めると良い。

I think natural talent exists. However, I think it is more important to practice. It is seldom that a talent that has never been experienced is surprisingly good, and it is not an enemy for those who practice regularly. Besides, it is difficult for those who don’t make an effort just because they are talented to win those who do the same. So, I think you need talent to aim at the top, but practice is more important. （78語）
私は生まれつきの才能は存在すると思います。しかし、努力することの方が大切だと考えます。いくら才能があっても経験したことのないものがいきなり優れているなんてことは滅多になく、普段から練習している人には敵いません。それに、才能があるからといって努力をしない人も同じように努力している人に勝つことは難しいです。ですので、上を目指すのに才能は必要だとは思いますが、練習の方が大切です。

I feel that innate talent exists, and talent is more important than practice. Of course, even if you have talent, you can’t compete with inexperience, but with talent you can improve with a little effort. People who are at the top of the arts and sports definitely do their best. However, time is limited for people. Therefore, it is a talent to decide the match. 私は生まれつきの才能は存在し、練習することよりも才能の方が大切だと感じます。もちろん才能があっても未経験では敵うはずもありませんが、才能さえあれば少しの努力で上達することができます。芸術やスポーツにおいてもトップレベルにある人は間違いなく努力をしています。しかし、人には時間が限られています。そこで勝負を決めるのは才能です。欲しくても手に入らないからこそ、才能は大切だと思います。
