テーマ：「今から30年後の世界で直面する問題について」
大問4：Imagine the world 30 years from now. What do you think will be an important problem confronting us? State your ideas in about 100 words in English.
2018年度の弘前大学の前期入試（人文社会科学部・教育学部・医学部）では、「今から30年後の世界を想像してください。私たちが直面している重要な問題は何だと思いますか？ あなたの考えを約100語の英語で述べなさい」というテーマが出題された。
かなり自由度の高い英作文問題になっており、指定文字数も100語程度と多いので、書きやすいテーマがあるのであれば、それについて書いていくと良い。もし、書きやすいテーマが思い浮かばないのだとしたら、環境問題やエネルギー問題がイメージしやすのではないかと思う。構成としては「1.どんな問題に直面しているか」、「2.どんな状況になると予想できるか」、「3.原因と解決策」というように書くと指定された文字数近くまで書けるはずだ。

After 30 years, I think the world is facing a deteriorating environmental problem. We are already threatened with global warming and air pollution, etc., and measures have been devised, but I think that it can’t be completely avoided. The reason is that this problem is a problem that can occur as developing countries continue to develop, and can’t be solved even if several countries are making efforts. However, at present, there are many countries that are not very supportive of environmental issues. So, I think it is important for the world to think about environmental issues through conversations and to be united in dealing with them. （108語）
30年後、世界は悪化した環境問題に直面していると思います。既に地球温暖化や大気汚染などが危惧され対策が練られていますが、完全に回避することはできないと考えます。その理由は、この問題は発展途上国が発展を続ける限り起きうる問題であって、数カ国が努力をしていても解決できる問題ではないからです。しかし、現状ではあまり環境問題に対して協力的でない国が少なからずあります。ですから、世界が会話を通して環境問題について考えることと一丸となって問題に向き合うことが大切だと考えます。

After 30 years, I think the world is facing energy issues. It is thought that fossil fuels, which are widely used today, will start to bottom up and suffer from power shortages. Also, with regard to power generation methods, it will be necessary to quit the currently popular thermal power generation due to environmental issues. So, we must improve clean and efficient power generation in the coming years. In addition, I think it is necessary to find not only the existing clean energy but also new energy. We may have to face forever about the energy issues that will be needed in large quantities as we evolve. （107語）
30年後、世界はエネルギー問題に直面していると思います。現在、多く利用されている化石燃料は底をつき始め、電力不足に悩まされるのではないかと考えます。また、発電方法に関しても、環境問題の影響で現在ポピュラーな火力発電を止めなければいけなくなるでしょう。ですから、これからの時代はクリーンで効率的な発電を向上させなければなりません。また、現在あるクリーンエネルギーだけでなく、新たなエネルギーも見つけていく必要があると思います。発展とともに多量に必要になるかもしれないエネルギー問題について、私たちは永遠に向き合わなければならないのかもしれません。
